  2. Growing up, Divine was bullied horribly at school. “My heart bleeds for you” his teachers would sneer at him when he complained of the constant abuse he would get. It wasn’t until he became proud of who he was and unapologetic about his appearance that his fears would vanish. He became a larger than life voice for everyone who was different and didn’t fit into the confines of what was considered “normal.” Ugly was beautiful, gender was undefinable and his presence…, undeniable.

    Bullies are assholes. They will pick on those who they feel to be less equipped to defend themselves. The truth is, we are all very well equipped to defend ourselves and we should own and celebrate our differences and demand the respect that we ALL deserve.
